A lot of people have trouble exercising because of joint pain whether from illness or injury. Some give up so they lose their fitness. It doesn’t have to be that way as you can perform low impact workouts instead of your regular routine.

For example, you can try to do cycling instead of running as the former offers smooth pedaling action with minimal impact on the knee joints. That’s assuming you stay on paved roads. You can also use the elliptical machines at the gym for an alternative total body workout.

Avoid jumping motions. Instead of doing jumping jacks or using the jump rope, you may want to stick to squats and lunges instead. Mind your form and stop if you feel any pain. By developing the muscles around the sore joints, you will be able to hasten recovery and prevent a recurrence.
